We are working on making these wonderful homemade books that we will use as our passports to each country. Students will keep their notes, photos, sheet music and reflections in them. We've learned three Body Percussion patterns so far, this week we learned a fancy 12-beat handshake....
7th Grade........ Guitars!! We can play the E major, A major and D major chords. We've learned how to play the chords for the songs "Achy Breaky Heart," and now "Three Little Birds." We really have fun singing the reggae tune, and still struggle with making the chord changes.
We've learned how to read chord tablature and melodic tablature and the kids are getting ready for their first playing test. They must play a short Blues Solo.
Students should be practicing at home, see me if you need to sign out a guitar.
8th Grade. ...... We're writing our first musical compositions this year using JUNK. We've explored the possibilities of making music with trash cans, pipes, buckets, wood pieces, and bits of crazy. Click here for a description of the in-class graded assignments. I'm videotaping some of the new songs.
