Its' 4:35 AM and I'm up early as usual to get ready for school. Yes, this is my last day of being up this early.
Starting tomorrow, I'm sleeping in 'til 6:00!!! It's been a busy busy year. The kids have performed and learned a lot of music. Personally, my performance at Carnegie Hall and my national presentation to the Music Educators National Conference were the highlights. Band and chorus programs will be reduced severely next year, we're still trying to work out the details, but I'm fighting the good fight. We'll see what happens, I appreciate everyone's support for the arts. See you in the Fall, Michelle

Thanks to all who worked so hard at learning music this term.
A few snags with student behavior, but we'll keep working to teach the kids proper concert and performance etiquette. A special Thank You to Diana Getman for all her work with the orchestra over the years. The group really sounds great. The Orchestra will perform one last time with the percussion battery at the Awards Assembly on Tuesday before graduation.Check Edline!!6th graders..... Making their authentic instruments 7th grade...... Writing original music with computers, guitars and keyboards 8th grade.... Taking their final exam this week and then on to the Contemporary music project. It's been an interesting year.... The concert is on Tuesday. Its been an interesting year. We only had 20 minutes per week to learn our songs, and that's if we had school on Monday, which wasn't reliable. It's been a challenge. I feel that I haven't really taught the kids to sing. They come in and we sing around the piano for a few minutes and then they leave. I wish we had time for me to teach them good technique.
We'll do the best we can, we sing the pop songs and the Les Nis songs we've learned. I hope next year brings more time, so we can learn to sing really well~! |
