Rehearsal time for chorus and band has been greatly restricted this year. We usually spend a lot of time learning to perform and taking turns performing solo for the class. Short and infrequent rehearsals have made this practice almost impossible if we are to prepare for concerts. Hopefully, we can find more time to rehearse next year, and the kids will get the skills and confidence they need to put on a show.
6th grade. Brazilian Music. Love it!!! and Capoeira, such great music and dance. Next week, Brazilian Samba...
7th grade. Beethoven rules! Especially his 7th Symphony, pt 2 Allegretto. So perfect, or , at least that's what I'm trying to convince the kids. Moving on to starting our composition unit. Mixcraft, the computer program, is what we are using, and coming up with some great stuff.
8th grade. Finishing our unit on West Side Story and learning about Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim. Final Exam on the last week of the month. The kids are responsible to review all the music we've learned this year, and get ready for the test. They'll have these every term in High School, might as well give them a taste of it now, while it's less painful. Contemporary Music Project is in June.
