Last minute details and reminders....
1 Board buses on Thursday 5/14 at 5:30 AM. Plan to be there before 5:15 to check in with your chaperone.
2 'New York Buddies' should call each other at 4:45 AM on Thursday morning to make sure the buddy is awake and ready to go. (the kids are arranged in pairs or trios)
3 Wear your music Tshirt with something over it, we perform on Thursday.
4 Wear good walking shoes and dress code clothing that is respectful and practical for sightseeing in the big city. Pack snacks and your lunch.
5. Do not park in the school driveway, park in marked spaces only. The coach buses need to set up in the driveway.
6 Do not park in the school driveway during pickup time on Friday night, the buses need to get into the driveway. Park in marked spaces only or across the street at the bank.
7. Please carpool if possible for both the drop-off and pickup. Less cars will make it easier for the kids and chaperones.
8 Remind your child to use his/her best manners and behavior on this trip. Students must follow chaperone directions quickly and respectfully. Help the children understand the chaperones are making rules to keep them safe.
9 Does your child need Dramamine before leaving?
10 All medicines should be brought to the school nurse this week, by Wednesday. Students will not be allowed to carry pills on their person. Mrs. Smith will carry Tylenol. Students who carry Epipens and Inhalers should make sure to speak with Mrs Smith this week so she can keep track of who needs/has what...
11 Remind students to have good behavior in the hotel room. Students will get to the hotel very late, 11:00, after the show. They should be very quiet and respectful. Security guards will be posted on each floor to assure the kids stay safely in their rooms.
12. We expect to return to RJH approximately 10:00 PM on Friday. We will ask the kids to call home as we travel through the Hampton Toll Booth to let you know when to set out to get them. When your child calls, please remind them of who is picking them up. They might forget they are going home with a neighbor.
13 Chaperones on this trip are. Michelle Wirth, Hannah Jackson (our student teacher), Laura Sunderland, Anne Gilbert, Sarah Nice, Sarah Oliver, Lexy Van Binsburgen, Trevor Farrell, Ed O'Brien, Jeffrey Elwood, Jessie Stewart and Janet Smith.

On May 14-15, 2015 One hundred students from the Rye Jr High will travel to New York City to perform on the Intrepid, see "Matilda" on Broadway, experience the 911 Memorial and go to the National Museum of Natural History. Click below on the itinerary for more details.

Some parents are thinking of getting a van and driving down to follow along with the kids.If you are interested in joining them, let me know and I'll send you the contact info.
I've reserved seats for 100 kids, first come first served.
After teacher chaperones have committed to the trip, I'll contact parents if I need parent chaperones.
Yes, the kids will pick a partner to stay with on the trip (the bus, the hotel, travel groups)
Ten adult chaperones are going.
Will need spending money for Friday lunch and supper and any shopping they do in Times Square.

Cell phones are OK, haven't figured out yet about other electronics.
Wear comfortable shoes, dress in layers.
