Ms. Wirth –
I’m jumping to conclusions but are you not the “leader of the band” that came to Pease to help greet the troops this past week?
What a treat!!! Such enthusiasm, respect, patriotism pride etc., and etc. All of Us Pease Greeters just loved the band and all associated with the trip. Thank you and thank your students for coming out to join in with us “regulars” to partake in this awesome experience.
Some of the troops are very young – late teens? Early twenties? There was a chaplain with them who was actually on emergency leave and hopped a ride home with his particular group. Paraphrasing what he said “I want you to tell everyone – all over the country even of what you do. There are some very young soldiers who are on their first deployment. They are apprehensive, timid, homesick and you absolutely lift their spirits, and fortify the belief that they are doing something important. Everywhere I go I tell people about Pease Greeters and today is over the top. All the school kids here and the Pease Greeters, and the band! It just tops off the trip and lets us all know that they are appreciated and not alone.
Cheers to your super chaperones – to You!! And to all the students who made the trip.
Thank you.
